Omega Beta Zeta Chapter History

After becoming a member of the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated Phi Omicron at Longwood University, one Soror remained a resident of Farmville, Virginia-- Soror Kellie Dixon. She endeavored each day to uphold the principles that the sorority stands for:  Scholarship, Service, Sisterhood, and Finer Womanhood.

After much thinking and encouragement by Brother Anthony Brumfield, of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated, Soror Dixon attempted to put her thoughts into action. She had a desire to initiate a graduate chapter that would engage the town of Farmville, VA while accepting the challenge to be better Zetas in the process.

The graduate chapter would seek to demonstrate the Zeta motto of a community-conscious, action-oriented organization. Four other Sorors who, also, resided in the town of Farmville acknowledged the vision of Soror Dixon and immediately sought to develop and leave a distinguishing mark on the town. Thus, Soror Marie Brumfield, Soror Sabrina Davis, Soror Dr. Deneese L. Jones, and Soror Ashley K. Stovall joined Soror Dixon in her efforts to represent women of elite character.

Omega Beta Zeta was chartered on July 19, 2011. On November 11, 2011 during the Virginia State Conference, in Richmond, VA, the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, Omega Beta Zeta Chapter conducted its chartering ceremony. Just as the five founders of Zeta Phi Beta have influenced over 100,000 women, these five charter members are striving to do the same.
